I am the founder and director of Living Earth Television, a nonprofit organization that is creating ways of sharing documentaries globally.  Our tagline:  Your Neighbors Around the World!  We locate, license and translate docs made by local filmmakers (first series is from/about China) and find and create venues for showing them to others worldwide. 

I'm an anthropologist who has worked with international documentary for decades - with festivals, museums, universities, public television - and had an inspiration in late September 2001 to create a way to share the wonderful films I have worked with for so long - and which are a 'best kept secret.'   My own theory is that if we get to know each other, and each others' families, communities, arts, spirituality and so on  - you get the picture - it will be far less appealing and far less possible to have wars.  Who needs 'em? 

We're based in the Chicago area.  I've spoken in the USA, Europe and Asia about Living Earth TV, and found a very positive response everywhere.  We will initially be providing programming to existing public broadcasters, and then creating our own channel when the resources arrive.  We're now in a serious networking mode to find the funding to launch our first series - China Inside Out - and to begin development on future series on sub-Saharan Africa and on Latin America.  When we launch our own channel, the programs will be grouped by theme, not geography - our strands are about individuals and communities, kids, arts, sustainability, peacemakers, bridges and spirituality.
